About GlassyGreen.com

"Oh-La-La!!"
"I LOVE Wahines!"

GlassyGreen.com evolved from my discovery of lycra skins. While searching for an underwater camera on the internet, I tripped on a lycra full-body suit for wearing beneath a wetsuit. I loved the idea of slipping my wetsuit on instead of squirming into it, and so I wondered why surfers didn't use them.

I bought one, and it was perfect timing since I'd also just bought my first full wetsuit for the chilly U.S. north Atlantic waters. I dreaded the thought of squirming into the suit.

I found I could virtually slip into the wetsuit while wearing the lycra skin. Now, I'm not saying the wetsuit went on like a loose pair of jeans, but there was a marked difference from pulling new rubber on without one. I was hooked.

As I used it I found it had other bennies. Like a wetsuit, it trapped water next to my skin and warmed it to body temperature. The suit had some other beneficial purposes, like when worn alone it could protect from sunburn or from jellyfish stings. Again, I wondered why it wasn't being marketed to surfers.

I told some friends about my "big discovery", and they (didn't laugh) were interested, especially my wahine friends who liked the idea of a little modesty when wiggling in or out of their rubber in public.

Somewhere in here a lightbulb went on in my nogg'n to market these types of suits to the surfing world. That, combined with a strong desire to leave the corporate work world for a surf vocation, and you've got a budding surf entrepreneur.

The products at GG cover lycra to poly to neoprene to polartec - a whole gamet of materials that can be used alone or for layering, or for other sports such as biking or snowboarding (poly wicks away moisture). I think the products at GlassyGreen are high quality, and I hope you'll like them too.

Cheers,
Janice Trayes
